Existence (Copywright) A short story

Below is one of my short stories....i wrote this quite a while ago so all the names were from my own brain!

A sharp scream pierced my ears as I lay in a huddle. My pale white hands were shaking as I tried to lift myself from the cold, hard, marble floor. I could not make out the chaos that was unfolding before me as my mane of raven black hair was sticking to the running blood and open wounds on my bedraggled face. My long leather jacket was swamped in the unusually runny blood falling out of my left leg; which had been nearly ripped off. With no power flowing through my veins I knew I did not have the strength to stand up and fight...so instead I had to lay there and listen to the screams of pain intoxicating my thoughts. My eyes had now transformed back to their original colour instead of the blazing citrus. Through the havoc I heard an excruciating high painful screech. I lifted my head slowly to reveal a battered and bruised appearance, my eyes narrowed and burned with rage though nothing could be done. I shouted but it was too late. Edith was dead.
I tried to move but I couldn't, it was as if a strong force was holding me back. I screamed in pain as I fell back on my broken leg. Suddenly a splintering pain shot through my neck, I felt paralysed and fell to the ground. Out of the corner of my eye I could see it, the sharp teeth ripping into my shoulder as I lay wriggling trying to escape. I could see dark shapes twirling around in front of my eyes yet still I could not identify them. I tried to push the creature; that had tightly wrapped itself around me away but the mysterious figure was twice as strong and clearly was not human. I could start to feel myself losing conscienious and could hear that the battle had been lost. My head dropped suddenly to the floor and my head smashed against it. I could tell that the creature had moved away from me and my paralysed, limp body was being swamped in a pool of my own blood. The pain had stopped. I closed my eyes.

8 Hours Earlier

The sun was clawing it’s way through the tinted windows as the summer breeze lapped in through the gap at the bottom of the glass. Even though I knew what was about to take place I could not help but think what a beautiful day it was. My eyes fell upon my target. The breeze began to stream quicker through the gap and the wind chimes started to collide with one another. All of a sudden a huge cloud swept over the blaze of light and a clash of thunder struck directly through the window and straight into the eyes of the man kneeling in front of me. I jumped back stunned. The man was thrown back against the wall with blood curdling with his tears. Without a seconds thought I drew my pistols from my skin tight black jeans and pointed them in his direction. This was my chance.
I was ready to pull the trigger, it was all set up perfectly. Nobody would know. He was screaming for mercy. His tears were forming a river along the blood red corridor. And then it happened. I failed. I dropped it. Silence swept over the abandoned hotel like the blanket of death sweeping over a field of bodies. Nothing could be heard except a low and constant ticking from a vintage clock hanging on the stair wall. Tick Tock. The sound of time made me nervous.
My head collapsed into my hands. I could hear his staggering footsteps prowling towards me. The warm, comforting hand lifted my head. I was mesmerised by his deep, soul catching eyes and suddenly all was lost. Without any second thought my animal instinct took over. The heated blood was pouring rapidly down his masculine neck. My lips had been turned red with the river of blood caressing my throat. The screams were echoing down the corridor but nothing could stop me now. I was lost.

I was ready to show them. Show them what I had done. I was leaning on the domineering, oak arch which was placed just over the stone doors of the Buleutrien. I had come home to face the truth. I had betrayed my kind. But above that I had betrayed Edith. My Elder. My Idol. My Creator.
It was about 11:45 when it started. My hand turned the silver doorknob that had bloodstains caressing it. A fierce shock forced its way through my brain and pushed me through the door, I landed on a green plastic rocking chair which made Edith seem younger. The big mistake walked in behind me with his swept back blonde hair neatly in place. Strangely he had become more cocky and arrogant; traits that none of the elders will be satisfied with.
He stood against the wall and tilted his head sideways to look at me. I grabbed on to the bar behind me that led to the stairs. I pulled my self up and began to trudge up the steps which would lead to my exposure and certain retribution. Every now and then I would let out a scream yet he would just carry on walking and acknowledge me with a low grunt. I reached the last step and took a final glance back at reality. I kicked the door open. It was then that I realised that they already knew what I had done and they were slowly putting me through the final steps of existence. They had called upon The Furies.
The large room was transparent with exquisite marbled flooring.
The hairs on my body stood on end. It was freezing. My heartbeat began to fasten. In the middle of the room was a royal blue platform where three old women were standing: Megaera, Tisiphone and Alecto. Their red piercing eyes were surrounded by a black cape covering their whole body except from their monstrous red wings which were fully spanned ready to take flight.
A voice I knew well shattered the electrically charged silence but filled my heart with fear.
“Did you really expect us to forgive you? We all counted on you to finish him off… but you didn’t did you? And why? Because you felt sorry for him. You decided that you had a heart after all!”
Edward came into view from behind the platform, his pale face full of anger and rage.
“I’m sorry my lord, I did not see the justice in this cause. There was no point to this mans death!” I tried to step forward but I was too weak.
“The point of that monsters supposed death was too rid of all humans who had the power too annihilate our kind! So instead you welcome him on to our team and you expect me and the elders to sit back and wait for him to realise what he is capable of. Then he would stab us in the back!” Edward clenched his fists and started to pace back and forth, his face began to change and his anger was released.
“I am sorry! But I can not change what has been done. I am sorry!”
I screamed with all my power. A constant humming noise began to surge its way through my brain. My eyes began to blur.
“When would you like the death to begin, young Edward?” Alecto was leaning forward and mouthing mumbled words to herself. Her wings began to flap furiously, she began to hover above the platform.
“Not yet dear, I would like her to suffer first. She should take into account that she has failed us. Failed Edith. And Edith does not take to failure kindly. She would like a word with you.” Edward stretched his long, skinny finger in my direction. At that exact moment a young but superior looking women walked through a rusty door in the corner of the room.
My face began to pour with sweat. I don’t want to die. I don’t want to die.
“Dear child why have you caused so much pain?” Edith placed her cold hand on my face and smiled.
“I am sorry Edith to have caused such pain. I do not understand
why I had such an immense weakness for this man.” My face was wet with tears.
Edith removed her hand from my face and put it in her pocket. “My daughter, you must understand If you had killed this man we would have been free. The line of vampire killers would have been finished. We would not have had to fear for the survival of our existence. But you failed, he will now live knowing the power that he possesses and will not be able resist the temptation of controlling us. He will turn against us and he will succeed. He is the one!”
“Then kill him you still have time! I’m so sorry! Please forgive me!”
I clasped her hand in mine. Edith pulled away.
“You know I love you child but this must be done. You have failed your family, you know the rules.”
Before I had taken in what she had said a sharp claw ripped its way through my face. Blood began to pour. It stuck to my face like glue.Tisiphone had pierced her teeth into my leg and ripped it out of it’s socket she laughed with glee as she flew away with her sisters. I collapsed to the floor.
“I’m sorry, forgive me!” I screamed begging for mercy. “Please!” I shouted over and over.
Edward was squatting on the side of the platform with a sadistic smirk spread across his snarling snake like face.
Edith strode towards the platform, her voice firm but soft cutting through my pain.
“That’s enough! She will be tortured more by living with the guilt!” Edith began to shake her head.
“Thank you, Thank you so much!” I whispered faintly, lifting my head slowly.
Edward laughed mockingly, “You are weaker than she is” he spat, kicking Edith to the floor. He crept towards the oak door’s and took one lingering glance at the mess that he had caused. “Have fun my Furies. Reek unholy revenge until their raw and rampailent bodies are no more.” Edward turned towards me, “dear child, the pain has just begun” his laughter echoed menacingly as he began to close the doors behind him and seal my fate. I knew the chance of life for myself and Edith was lost because once the furies know their target they will not stop until their prey has been demolished. Instead I called out the name of the man who I had chosen to die for: the man I sired. He stepped out of the shadow that he had been hiding in and narrowed his eyes. We looked at each other. He smiled at me in the same way he had done the first time we met. I could tell by the look in his eyes that he knew exactly what I wanted him to do: kill Edward. He brushed past my arm as he pelted towards the door. I could feel the power. As the doors slammed shut I heard a scream. Revenge was sweet. I threw my head back in a victorious cackle as the three Furies swept in. Although I knew I was going to die I could not help but feel satisfied knowing I had saved my kind. Not from death, but from a far worse fate. Edward.
